The Windsor Court Hotel - Most Romantic Hotel in New Orleans

Suites.  Have we told you lately how much we love them?  And how we search every corner of the internet to find the best ones in every city we travel to?  Well of course we would uncover our own ‘English Manor’ charmed suite in one of the best locations of NOLA.

This hotel tricks you into thinking it’s over 100 years old, but just celebrated it’s 30 birthday.  A lot of design and tradition was taken into account when planning it’s recent renovation, because it still feels like ‘yesterday’, and that’s exactly the way you want to feel when in New Orleans.

The Premium Suite at Windsor Court: Classic English, French Vogue and Italian Marble.  Doesn’t get any better than that! 😉 The entire places makes me go ‘Oooo La La!’

We stayed in the Premium Suite which is 800 sq ft and just trust me on this ONE thing… It looks MUCH MUCH MUCH better in person than the photos. I love old style charm, but I have to admit, looking online I thought to myself “ummm…this looks a little…dated, not in the good way!” I was wrong! In person it really is 10/10.
The room is SO big, french doors into the bedroom, side bar butlers pantry (very classy) hardwood floors, crown moldings, very posh!  The powder room and huge closet was a big bonus! Lots of mirrors and great lighting for makeup.  2 balconies for a city view and fresh air.

We stayed in room 617 for 4 nights in July/16.  Disclosure: The hotel did NOT host our stay.

WHY you would want to stay at The Windsor Court Hotel:

  • If you like a unique space and decor
  • If you like larger rooms (even their basic room sq is larger than others in NOLA)
  • If you want walking distance to the French Quarter, but prefer the quietness of the Central Business district. (could also walk to convention centre)
  • If you enjoy afternoon tea, art museums, celebrity watching and salt water pools

FOOD and RESTAURANTS:

We visited the polo lounge for drinks and snacks 2 times during our stay. What did we get? Champagne and pizza to be exact! The pizza is more of a meal than a snack and very fast/good. Live piano player was a nice touch.

We had dinner at the Grill Room. Top notch service and food. Good portions. Expensive, but on par with any other high end hotel.

Room Service:
We did a room service breakfast 1 morning and it was perfect! They set up the dining table we had in the room. Healthy options available (what I chose) and also guilty pleasures are on the menu (what Trevor chose) Their own little bottles of maple syrup was a delightful surprise!

Check-in: There was a formal afternoon tea happening in the lounge near check in which was great for people watching. Check in was fast, bags brought up to the room, bell boy gave us the tour.

WIFI: Worked the entire time. Fast!

Elevators: FAST! The doors open so fast when they reach the floor, which is a huge thing for Trevor.

Location:
Walking distance from everything you want to do.

  • 3-minute walk to Canal Street (From here you can pick up streetcars to St. Charles Avenue or the New Orleans Museum of Art)
  • 10 min walk to Lafayette Square
  • 15 min walk to the National World War II Museum
  • 15 min walk to Jackson Square and Café du Monde
  • 15 minute walk to convention centre

We had the concierge book us a black Suburban private tour of New Orleans, the French Quarter, Katrina, Garden District and Cemeteries for $100/h.  We took about 3.5 hours to see it all, even with taking photos.  Worthwhile investment!

It was my birthday and our first night we came back to the room after turndown where they had put fresh ice, put on jazz music, drawn the shades, dimmed the lights, put homemade pecan pralines on our pillows, chocolate covered strawberries and a a birthday card. Very classy!
The turndown service here is TOP NOTCH!  We told our turn down maid how much we adored the pralines and she brought us 8 more on a silver platter.
