For those who haven’t decided yet which city to visit this summer, this new ranking might help them decide and adjust their budget. A recent report published by Rastreator—an insurance agency headquartered in Madrid— published a list of the cheapest and most expensive cities in Spain.
The study analyzed recent prices and considered a week’s stay —7 days and 6 nights— in a hotel downtown and relevant services and average consumption for two people in the city, including prices for coffee, the average price for a restaurant meal, a beer, car rental, and gas price.
Prices have increased considerably this year, on average 1 week of vacation in Spain during August costs 1,464 euros —around 1,530 dollars—, 24% more than in 2021.
Madrid, the capital, ranked 7th place among the 15 destinations analyzed, with an average of 1,340 euros per week. Barcelona —Spain’s most popular destination among international visitors— ranked as the 4th most expensive destination with a weekly vacation cost of 1,873 euros.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife: 888 euros per week
This beautiful coastal city is located in the north of Tenerife island, in the Spanish archipelago of Gran Canarias. Travelers can explore the place’s historic quarter and the island, popularly known as “the island of eternal spring”.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: 983 euros per week
Not too far from Santa Cruz, in the neighboring islands, travelers can visit the second cheapest city in Spain and has been considered to have the least expensive stay —with an average of 57 euros per night. Visitors can enjoy the lovely beaches and hike the Pico de las Nieves mountain to appreciate stunning views.
Sevilla: 1,128 euros per week
This city is located in the Andalucía Region and is very popular among locals and foreigners. In Sevilla, travelers will find very rich and unique architecture and fascinating history. The perfect destination to get immersed in Spanish culture.

Palma de Mallorca: 2,382 euros per week

Gijon: 1,987 euros per week
Another popular and the second most expensive city in Spain is Gijon, located in the north. This destination is popular for its maritime heritage, rich gastronomy, beautiful beaches, and green mountains. The average price per night is 183 euros and 4, 89 euros for a beer.
Cadiz: 1,931 euros per week
This city and port in the south of Spain has a lot to offer tourists: beautiful and warm Mediterranean beaches, over 100 watchtowers, castles, museums, and more. It is also known for its fortified wine production. A night in Cadiz costs 183 euros, but food and drinks are cheaper compared to Gijón and Palma de Mallorca, and coffee lovers can take advantage of the cheapest coffee in Spain in this location where it costs 1.62 euros.
