A new theme park is finally set to open in Punta Cana next month. The family-friendly attraction will add even more to offer to the already popular Caribbean hotspot. With shops, rides, restaurants, and more, Punta Cana just became even more attractive for families in search of a fun getaway!

Travel is soaring in 2023, and Punta Cana is at the top of the list for vacationers. The Dominican Republic was still busy during the pandemic but should expect even more tourists now that more attractions are popping up.

Punta Cana, specifically, is known for its untouched white sand beaches, crystal clear water, and amazing world-class resorts, including a beautiful new resort on site. Adding an impeccably designed theme park into the mix should excite travelers even more!

Welcome to Kathmandu Park

Backed by a whopping $350 million investment from Meliá Hotels International and Falcon’s Beyond Global, this project aims to please. Claiming to be the “Caribbean’s first world-class theme park,” this fun zone has all the bells and whistles to keep the whole family entertained.

Those interested won’t have to wait much longer, as the grand opening is set for March 15, 2023. Guests can gain access to a sneak peek of what’s to come by ordering tickets in advance on Kathmandu’s official website

Sneak preview hours are 6 pm – 12 am.

Regular park hours are Sunday to Thursday, 10 am – 6 pm, and Friday to Saturday, 10 am – 1 am.

Ticket Prices

The prices start at $85 for the kiddos and $120 for the grown-ups.

For the ultimate VIP experience, children’s tickets are $140, and adults are $225. This includes a one-time use for each attraction offered, including the Giant Swing and an extra 18 holes of miniature golf!

Both options are valid until the end of the calendar year.

Location

Expected to entertain at least 4000 guests per day, the fun can be found on Avenida Alemana in Punta Cana. Some would say this is the “touristy” side of town. If this is the main draw for families on vacation, it is only 10 miles from the Punta Cana airport.

Kathmandu will offer a limited amount of lockers for those who do choose to go straight from the airport. Otherwise, guests are more than welcome to stay at the conveniently located steps away from all the merriment!

This park perfectly fills an important gap in the market. Katmandu Punta Cana will be the only theme park of its kind in the Caribbean, satisfying visitors’ hunger for world-class entertainment. It will be an absolutely unique experience for visitors to the surrounding hotels, tourists from the United States and residents of Punta Cana alike.” –

All-Inclusive Resort

The new 5-star resort is top-notch, offering the perfect getaway for families or even adults wanting to find their inner youth again!

Nestled near “dazzling beaches,” luxury pools, and delicious cuisine, this resort is worthy of coming to Punta Cana all on its own.

For those who do bring the kids along, perhaps the best part is every standard suite reservation comes with a complimentary pass to the theme park! Those who upgrade to the BEYOND guest suite will receive an upgrade in their theme park pass too. Instead of a single-use pass, they will now receive a multi-day pass for free!

To put the icing on the cake, guests will also receive a private shuttle at their request for easy access between the park and the resort.

Main Attractions

Kathmandu wants to be the place where visitors can “Let their imagination run wild!”. Set to be similar in style to their other property in Spain, this development will offer many of the same attractions catered toward a new demographic. The following video from the existing park in Mallorca gives a good idea of what visitors to the new park in Punta Cana can expect.

@beautyinscotland We had the best time at Katmandu, Mallorca. Situated in Magaluf, it was so much fun for the whole family. We paid 100 euros for 2 adults & 2 children under 12. Our favourite was the splash park and upside down house. #mallorca #katmandupark #katmandu #magaluf #spain #splashpark #upsidedownhouse #holiday #funinthesun #sunnyspain #vacation #sunnydays #majorca #palma #santaponsa #play #fun #daysout #daysoutmallorca #daytrip #majorcaisland #loveisland thanks @Gadsya ♬ original sound – Gadsya

Highlights of new attractions:

  • Miniature golf: 36 holes where players will putt down a waterfall, maneuver through ice caves, and navigate through a collapsing tunnel
  • Interactive virtual rides: Guests can immerse themselves in a variety of thrilling games packed with laser guns to defeat their enemies on screen. Think of it as a modern-day version of laser tag without having to leave your seat!
  • The Quadagon: An action-packed agility course of 4 different scenarios. Spider walls, rope swings, and crawl tubes are just a few features to defeat to show off their skills.
  • Obstacle course: This course was designed with The Himalayas in mind. This trek of multiple bridges, seesaws, and cargo nets is worth the view, as it is the high point of the whole park.
