This Popular Airline Just Expanded Flights to 10 Destinations In The Caribbean For This Winter

Delta Air Lines just announced a massive expansion to its winter flight schedules, with expanded service to many popular destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America.

According to Delta, the airline will be expanding its winter service to these destinations by over 30% compared to last year, with more than 1,000 weekly flights to help you escape the cold and enjoy some sunshine, warm weather, and beaches instead.

The airline is upping its Saturday service, perfect for taking a week-long winter vacation. These increased frequency flights will start on January 13, 2024.

This expansion is due to increased travel demand for the Caribbean and Latin America and accounts for more than 35,000 additional seats on flights this winter to the region.

Here’s where travelers will be able to go with increased frequency from the United States:

Cartagena Colombia

Flights From Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta is one of Delta’s main travel hubs, and the airline is expanding service to the following destinations this winter with an increased frequency of Saturday flights:

  • Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas 
  • Simpson Bay, St. Maarten 
  • Guatemala City, Guatemala
  • San José, Costa Rica 
  • Liberia, Costa Rica
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

Additionally, Delta will resume nonstop service from Atlanta to the Caribbean island of Curaçao for the first time in over 10 years beginning on December 16 with Saturday flights.

New flights will also begin to Cartagena, Colombia on December 22 with thrice-weekly service.

Flights From New York, New York

Delta will also be increasing its service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport this winter. The airline will be offering thrice-daily Saturday flights to Cancun, Mexico, making it easier than ever to get to Mexico’s most popular destination.

From LaGuardia Airport, Delta will also begin offering flights to Nassau, Bahamas for the first time beginning on December 16.

Flights From Detroit, Michigan

Another Delta hub with more flights to the Caribbean and Latin America this winter is Detroit. Travelers will be able to reach the following destinations with increased service on Saturdays:

  • Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
  • Montego Bay, Jamaica
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Dominican Republic and Jamaica are both two of the cheapest Caribbean destinations to visit this winter for an affordable getaway.

Flights From Minneapolis, Minnesota

Delta is also expanding its flights from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport this winter. Known for its notoriously cold winters, travelers will be able to escape to the following tropical destinations at a higher frequency on Saturdays:

  • Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
  • Montego Bay, Jamaica
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

Additionally, Delta is launching a new service to Liberia, Costa Rica, which will happen four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

This will make it easier than ever for travelers in the MSP region to reach the Central American paradise of Costa Rica.

Flights From Boston, Massachusetts

Delta also is expanding its Saturday flight service to San Juan, Puerto Rico by offering two flights a day beginning on January 13.

Puerto Rico has become one of the hottest destinations of the year and it’s the perfect winter escape to beat the cold and enjoy sunny weather, great beaches, and history and culture.

Flights From Seattle, Washington

Finally, Delta is expanding its service from Seattle to Cancun, Mexico this winter. Travelers can trade the rainy Pacific Northwest for sunshine and beaches on this new flight which will depart on Fridays and return on Saturdays.

Cancun is the most popular international travel destination for Americans thanks to its incredible beaches and other unique tourist activities like visiting Mayan ruins and swimming in cenotes.
